JACER FUNdamental Beginnings (JACER) is dedicated to nurturing children and empowering families. Founded and led by Dr. Jamala Spencer, our program draws on over 18 years of experience in childhood, early childhood and special education.
Dr. Spencer is an experienced educator, leader, and advocate who worked with children of all abilities, including those with diverse learning and developmental needs. She holds a Doctorate in Special Education and has held several leadership roles in New York City Public Schools, including Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator, where she trained educators, supported families, and ensured high-quality services for young learners.
Her vision for JACER is to create a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment where every child can thrive. She develops curriculum experiences that support social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth, while fostering independence, confidence, and a love of learning.
Dr. Spencer works closely with families and collaborates with specialists such as speech, physical, and occupational therapists to ensure each child receives individualized support. Her background in both education and child welfare gives her a unique, holistic approach to caring for children and supporting their overall well-being.
As a licensed Group Family Daycare provider, Dr. Spencer is committed to the highest standards of care, safety, and professionalism. Her mission is simple yet powerful:
to meet each child’s FUNdamental needs while building a strong foundation for lifelong success.
